Cat Janice was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer
The singer from Washington, D.C., who is 31 years old, received the unfortunate news of being diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called sarcoma in 2021. The Rare ‘Sarcoma’ Cancer
When a disease includes the word sarcoma in its name, it indicates that the tumor is malignant, or cancerous. It refers to a specific type of cancer that originates in tissues such as bone or muscle. The two main types are bone and soft tissue sarcoma. Soft tissue sarcomas can develop in various soft tissues including fat, muscle, nerves, fibrous tissues, blood vessels, or deep skin tissues. They can occur in any part of the body, with a majority of cases starting in the arms or legs.
However, they can also be found in the trunk, head and neck region, internal organs, or the retroperitoneum (the area behind the abdominal cavity). It is important to note that sarcomas are relatively uncommon.
