The singer from Washington, D.C., who is 31 years old, received the unfortunate news of being diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called sarcoma in 2021. Since then, Janice has been bravely fighting this challenging battle against cancer, sharing her journey on social media. However, on January 15th, she shared the heartbreaking update that her cancer has advanced, and she is currently in hospice care, unable to sing anymore.

The Rare ‘Sarcoma’ Cancer

When a disease includes the word sarcoma in its name, it indicates that the tumor is malignant, or cancerous. It refers to a specific type of cancer that originates in tissues such as bone or muscle. The two main types are bone and soft tissue sarcoma. Soft tissue sarcomas can develop in various soft tissues including fat, muscle, nerves, fibrous tissues, blood vessels, or deep skin tissues. They can occur in any part of the body, with a majority of cases starting in the arms or legs.

However, they can also be found in the trunk, head and neck region, internal organs, or the retroperitoneum (the area behind the abdominal cavity). It is important to note that sarcomas are relatively uncommon.

Surprised by the overwhelming response to the final song

She defied all odds and released her disco-pop anthem, “Dance You Outta My Head,” on Jan. 19, despite the daunting news. To her surprise, the track quickly climbed the iTunes charts, reaching No. 7 worldwide just days later. Not only that, but it also amassed an impressive half a million streams on Spotify.

Overwhelmed by the overwhelming response, Janice took to Instagram to express her disbelief. In her post, she shared that she was in “complete shock” and described the experience as an absolute miracle. She explained how she woke up to the sound of her med pump beeping, only to discover the incredible success of her song. Janice saw it as a testament to God’s power and the unwavering trust and peace in her life.
